Class today was the most helpful one yet. We learned how to give and follow directions in Spanish(lejos- far away, cerca- near, detrás- behind, etc). It was very good to know and now I can find more places here. It was very hot in the school though. For some reason, none of the schools or houses here have AC, or even fans! So we had to close all the windows so there would be no sun inside and we all made paper fans.

After class it was 106 DEGREES!!! It was extremely hot and we all just wanted to go in the ac. But, we were planned to go on a small hike at a nature preserve and find animals. We went but it was too hot for any animals to be out and we had to turn around.

At least from there, we got to go to the bowling alley and cool off there. It was really fun and we played until about 10:30 at night.

Great blogging, Sofia! And be sure to stay hydrated in this unprecedented heat wave throughout Spain, France and other European countries. It's wonderful you're adapting to life there--so much of life is universal--that starts with kindness and caring support for one another. There are some things that transcend culture differences, e.g. music, food, family, sports--even bowling! You're a fantastic ambassador from Kauai. Proud of you.
